NYPD cop vs. cyclist

What. The. Hell.

My minimal experience with Denver’s Critical Mass ride (I took photos of it in Civic Center Park from the roof of the DNA building once while former co-worker current bike commuter Brendan rode) led me to believe that while Denver’s finest don’t understand or really like the monthly ride through Cap Hill, they respected its right to exist.

Welcome to New York City, motherf***er.

I can’t wrap my mind around this guy. Was he showing off for the other cop? Trying to cement the position of Street Cop over Punk Cyclist Punk on the NYC totem pole? I mean, he had a pursuit angle on that guy like he was practicing his open-field tackling. I had flashbacks of two-a-days back in Yuma, except instead of a worn, red tackling dummy it was, you know, a law-abiding eco-commuter. Hmmmm … the only real difference in the tackler is the uniform.

I’m riding to work 85 percent of the time lately, and Denver’s bike commuting landscape looks a hell of a lot better compared to this crap.
