Muxtape is dead, long live Fuxtape
Muxtape was about the best thing to happen to music on the Internet since, well, ever. Then, as with all things good or beautiful in the world, the RIAA killed it with legal crap.
But the open-source world came through with OpenTape, a self-hosted port of Muxtape that, while it can’t replace the awesome feeling of randomly clicking on a stranger’s playlist to discover new music, it does replicate the super-simple experience of using a Muxtape.
Check out my own OpenTape (dubbed Fuxtape by my co-worker John Zwick) at http://brofax.com/fuxtape.
