Fun with Google Alerts and dyslexia: financially secure prostitutes
When I quickly glanced at the most recent Google Alert in my work inbox, my deadline-raddled mind connected the headlines and I thought it was mighty progressive for some survey company to poll prostitutes for their financial security. Instead, what I got were two disparate, but equally interesting stories.
On one hand, minors are being recruited to service horny Democrats in August and on the other, Denver residents feel like they have some extra money to spend/invest/save, apparently on prostitutes.
This reminds me of an episode of Montel Sarah told me about back when she watched it on her lunch break. It featured a former Denver prostitute who said she ran away from her home in Highlands Ranch at like 15 to “walk” Colfax.
The hilarious part of that admittedly sad story was the video the crew shot to illustrate her last point, that “the cops think they’ve changed things on Colfax, but you could get a child prostitute on any street corner at any time of the day.”
Sarah said that as she was making that point, there was a montage of dark, angular shots of the following Denver landmarks: the Lion’s Lair, the Walgreen’s at Race & Josephine and that hotbed of child prostitution and sleaze, the state capitol.
I’m not going to pretend I know everything about Denver’s underworld, but I’ve walked the length of Colfax at night many times, and maybe I’m not very observant, but it seems pretty harmless. But then again, I’m no Montel.
Here’s the alert as it was sent to me:
